How I Write a LinkedIn Profile That Actually Converts
Hey,
You’re reading this because you want a LinkedIn profile that converts views in leads / clients.
I've been there, with no clear idea how to turn my profile into a high-converting asset that worked FOR me.
But I managed to change it around. And now, my profile brings me 20+ leads a month.
I don’t say this to show off, but to show you what’s possible.
So, let’s get into it:
Here's how I turned my LinkedIn profile into a lead magnet – and how you can do the same.
The AIDA Makeover
So what did I do to turn it around?
Simply put: I learned about AIDA and applied it to my profile.
Now you might already know the AIDA framework, but if you don’t it means - Attention, Interest, Desire, Action.
When I first heard of this framework, I thought it was just for ads & landing pages, but trust me, it's for LinkedIn too.
Attention: Grab it with a headline that's a direct call-out to your target audience.
Interest: Use the banner to show what my service is and how it might help
Desire: Show my results so that other people want them too
Action: Prompt it with a clear call to action.
I took this principle and ran with it.
Here’s how it looked:
My Headline
I use a simple structure. I help [target audience] [solve problem].
So for me that’s - I help [founders] [sign clients through LinkedIn]
I want to give me target audience a clear reason to see my headline → visit my profile.
When a prospect first clicks on your profile The first thing they see is your banner.
So I aim to do the same as my headline but visually.
By this point, in 5 seconds I’ve:
Called out my target audience by name
Made it clear I can help them solve a problem
Twice!
My Featured Section
Now that my prospect knows how I can help, I want to give them proof.
So I load up my featured section with:
Client results
Evidence
Case Studies
It's one thing to say you can solve a problem; it's another to show it.
My About Section
I structured mine as a simple elevator pitch:
Hi I'm [name]. I [solve a problem] for [target audience].
This is my [process for solving problem].
These are my [results from solving problem].
Here’s how I can help you [CTA]
Takeaway
I treated my profile like a landing page.
The results?
My profile suddenly proved I was solving real problems for real people.
And that’s why it generates so many leads.
Sidestepping the Pitfalls
Here's where many get it wrong:
Overloading the Profile: Stick to one call to action. Mine is about getting a direct message or a calendar booking.
Lack of Clarity: Your profile should scream 'I solve your specific problem!' in every section.
Insufficient Proof: Results speak louder than words. If you say you can solve a problem, back it up with hard evidence in your featured section.
LinkedIn isn’t the place to be coy or cryptic.
Your profile shouldn't be a riddle; it should be a beacon for your ideal client.
Results That Don't Lie
Let's talk about tangible outcomes.
My profile consistently brings in 20-30 leads a month.
And it's not just me. My clients have:
Booked 12 sales calls in one month using a clear-cut strategy focusing on LinkedIn.
With a fine-tuned profile, roped in 29 leads in just 48 hours, translating into £10,500 in new revenue.
In 90 days: 5,105 email list sign-ups, 130 direct inquiries via email, 29 calls booked.
After 30 days: Signed a $10,000/mo retainer.
These numbers are proof that this stuff works.
Keeping the Wheels Turning
Every month is a check-in.
How many leads did I bag?
What can be better?
It's a never-ending cycle of refinement – testing, tweaking, perfecting.
Ask yourself: Does my profile shout out to my target audience?
Does it scream 'I can solve your problem'?
Wrapping up
And there you have it – the blueprint on making your LinkedIn profile a conversion powerhouse.
Here's to making LinkedIn work for us.
Cheers, Ethan Golding
